The Usual Cupsets

The big guns joined ‘the greatest club competition in the world’ this weekend and it brought the anticipated cup upsets football fans wanted. Except if you happened to be a fan of one of those teams knocked out!

Biggest giant-killers this time round were Stevenage who totally outplayed the Geordies and beat them 3-1. They’ve been rewarded with a 4th round home tie against Reading. Notts County also knocked out opponents from the north east, beating Sunderland 2-1 target=”_new” at Roker Park the Stadium of Light. Southampton also beat Premier League opposition, dumping Blackpool out of the cup while Burton Albion also won against a higher placed team beating Middlesbro 2-0.

Elsewhere, Leeds held Arsenal at Highbury the Emirates, Wolves were held by Doncaster and Man Citeh drew with Leicester. Liverpool’s poor season continued despite the return of King Kenny as they were beaten not just by Man yoo but also by some poor refereeing decsions. Howard Webb, you should be ashamed of yourself!
