Due to the bank holiday, this year the transfer deadline day was extended by one day in the UK and it was a bit of a washout as any last-minute big signings failed to materialise.
Highlights of the day were Tottingham’s capture of Niko Kranjcar, James Collins’ £5m move from West Ham to Aston Villa and Tal Ben Haim’s switch from Man $ity to Portsmouth, as long as he can get a work permit.
And that’s about it! Not exactly riveting stuff and nothing like last year’s mad panic when Man $ity suddenly found themselves buying anyone they fancied, because they’d unexpectedly come into a bit of money. You can see a full list of deadline day’s transfers here.
